Andrew Grieve

Many of you will know by the time this newsletter is printed, that Andrew Grieve - warden at Blacktoft Sands Reserve for over 28 years - has decided to retire from the Society. Many members will have met Andrew either at the Reserve, or alternatively at one of the talks he has given to the Group over the years. For those of us involved with the cruises he has always been an excellent leader and made every trip a very memorable one for the passengers, with his expert commentaries.

There are far too many things to thank Andrew for - but one of his most notable achievements must have been creating the right habitat at Blacktoft, in order to encourage avocets to nest and raise chicks on the reserve.

Many of us know that Andrew has had many connections with the Middle East and he has decided to do some more work in that area of the world. We wish him well in all he does and also once again thank him for all his support over the years.

Group members who visited Blacktoft in July were asked to sign a card and the Group left the cards and a little gift for Andrew to remember us by, here in East Yorkshire.
