The Tombola

A BIG thank you to everyone who contributed to 2003’s Tombola, in any shape or form. I had plenty of offers of help with the stall on the days we ran it and the amount of donated prizes again exceeded expectations.

After the success at Bempton in 2002, Ken Proud invited us to both their main events this summer. First in May, then again in July or August. (It shows how hectic my year has been; I can’t remember which month it was!!)

Both weekends were a tremendous success for both our stall and the reserve, so I hope that we will be invited again next year! In terms of the fruits of our labour, the tombola raised over £525 for the Group, another increase on 2002. So in 2004 who knows?

Personally I am hoping that the cruise leaflet I gave to one particular young lady at Bempton provides us with more custom on the Yorkshire Belle next year, although COLD FEET will no doubt stop me selling her a strip of raffle tickets! For those of you that don’t know, the actress Helen Baxendale visited me, (well it sounds better than visited Bempton) at the Tombola for more info on the cruises. I’m hoping she takes us up on a trip next summer.

Thanks for all the help this last year. It really is amazing what we can do with a little help from our FRIENDS. Lastly a special thanks to those at home as they put up with the plastic bags and boxes full of prizes – the fact our garage is full doesn’t help. They help with the tickets; also they make sure I’m packed and ready to go and even sometimes help out on the stall. So thank you to Pam, Joanna and Rebecca. Mustn’t forget the cat, Ginny, who ensures mice don't get to the prizes in the garage!
